Some clients will ask, It’s your strip light dimmable? It’s your cabinet light dimmable? In this post we just talk about the constant voltage led light dimming.DC12V and DC24V. But the constant current led light dimming is the same way. Only the dimmable driver is different.
When you dimming the led strip light, you need to know the led strip light is in constant voltage. Now, most of the dimmable drivers and controllers control the output voltage. When the output voltage drop-down, the led lighting will dim.
1.1 Are all led strip lights dimmable?
Some of the constant currents led strip light when the input voltage drop-down, the current is the same. Then means this can not dim.
There are several ways we can dim the led strip light.
We can use a dimmable controller. This including RF dimmable controller, inline dimmable controller, RF dimmable controller.
Dimmable power supply. This including Triac dimmable led power supply,0/1-10V dimmable power supply, Dali dimmable led power supply.
DMX512 led controller system.
Mobile phone app controller
3. How to use a dimmable controller to dim the dimmable led strip light?
3.1 RF Dimmable controller
Radiofrequency dimmable controller another name is the wireless dimmable controller.
First, we need to count how many pcs led strip light we need to connect. Then count the total wattage. If the wattage is smaller than the controller power. Then we can use one controller to connect the led strip light. Wiring like the following photo.

If you are using it in a big project, you need to connect many pcs led strip lights. Then you can use the RF dimmable controller working with a power repeater. Then you can dim the all strip light with one controller.
3.2 0/1-10v dimmable controller
This controller can receive a 0/1-10v dimming signal. Wiring as following.Power supply---1-10v controller-strip light( and dimmer connect to controller).

3.3 WIFI dimmable controller
Now many people would like to use mobile phones to control their light at home. We can use a WIFI controller.

3.4 DMX512 dimmable controller
DMX512 controller system using in many lighting projects. It is a professional lighting control system. It can control not matter the RGB color change, RGBW color change. And it can use to dim the led light.

We can see from the below wiring photo. The DMX controller connects the power supply and led strip light.DMX master will connect the DMX controller and give a signal to the DMX controller, then the led strip light can dim.
3.5 DALI dimmable controller
DALI dimmable system is a very professional dimming system. It can use like the DMX512 system. It can program and dim different sections. Philips has many advanced signal dimmer controllers.
3.5.1 How to use DALI dimmable controller to dim the dimmable led strip light?
4.How many dimmable power supply can I use to dim the led strip light?
4.1 Triac dimmable led power supply
There Triac dimmable led power supply in the market.This controller input is AC110V OR AC220V.Output is DC12V OR DC24V.If your led strip light is DC12V,then you need to select the output is DC12V Triac dimmable power supply.
4.1.1How to wire the strip light with Triac dimmable power supply and Triac dimmer?
The wiring is simple,the input wire you need to connect a Triac dimmer and the Triac driver output connect the dimmable led strip light.The most import thing is the Dimmer power need to the same or bigger than the Triac driver power.And the led strip light wattage can not bigger than the driver wattage.
Triac dimming system is easy and simple.This is only using in small lighting project.You see from the wiring.The dimmer wattage is a major factor.Now the dimmer wattage is around 200w-500w.So this can not connect out of wattage.

4.2 0/1-10V dimmable led power supply
0/1-10v dimmable led power supply is a led power supply that can receive 0/1-10v dimming signal. It is the same as the 0/1-10V controller. We can see that this driver does not light the controller. The 0-10v controller input is DC12/24V. But the 0-10v напајање са могућношћу затамњивања input is AC90-220V. More convenient than the controller and the cost is lower than driver+controller.

Dali dimmable led power supply is a led power supply that can receive the DALI dimming signal. And it needs a DALI dimmer. Some of the high-class projects can use computers with a DALI control system inside.DALI can control each led light.
